Tactile Bio- and Neurofeedback with the Mindfield® MindPet
The Mindfield MindPet is a plush toy with a built-in vibration motor and a connection cable to the tactile interface. It responds with vibration to changes in the measurements during neuro- and biofeedback training (for example when a defined threshold is reached). In combination with the Mindfield Master devices, this provides vibration feedback to the trainee. Depending on the training screen, this feedback is tied to meeting a condition and reacts immediately. It is an ideal complement to the audiovisual feedback via bars, animations, videos and music within bio- and neurofeedback training. The strength of the vibration can be adjusted on the tactile interface. A tactile interface and a MindMaster device are always required (with the exception of the MindMaster Neuro 4).
In cooperation with the company Ty Inc. we are allowed to equip the well-known Beanie Ballz plush toys with a vibration motor. The MindPet draws its power from the tactile interface and does not need any batteries of its own. Due to the built-in electronics, the MindPet is not washable and can only be cleaned superficially.
Mindfield Tactile Cushion (vibration cushion)
As an alternative to the MindPet plush toys, we also offer a tactile cushion (vibration cushion). It likewise always requires a tactile interface and a MindMaster device (with the exception of the MindMaster Neuro 4). Like the MindPets, it is connected to a tactile interface (control unit) and gives the trainee tactile feedback when a training condition is met. With its neutral design, the tactile cushion is aimed more at adults, whereas the MindPet appeals above all to children. One advantage of the tactile cushion is that the cover is fully removable and washable, whereas the MindPets cannot be washed. The tactile cushion is approximately 30 × 30 cm and is battery-powered; the batteries are easily accessible and replaceable via a zip.

Using this tactile interface (control unit), either a MindPet plush toy with vibration motor or a vibration cushion can be connected, and the intensity of the vibration can be continuously adjusted.
Which devices do I need?
Both the MindPet and the tactile cushion (vibration cushion) always require a tactile interface, which in turn is connected to a MindMaster device (with the exception of the MindMaster Neuro 4). The following combinations are therefore possible, for example:
- (MindMaster device) + tactile interface + MindPet
- (MindMaster device) + tactile interface + tactile cushion (vibration cushion)
You can use both a MindPet and a tactile cushion, but in both cases you always need a tactile interface (and of course a MindMaster device).
How do I use the MindPet / the tactile cushion?
The MindPet is compatible with all Mindfield Master devices, with the exception of the MindMaster Neuro 4 (formerly MindMaster EEG). In addition to a MindPet or a tactile cushion, you need a control unit (tactile interface) with which you can continuously regulate the vibration strength. The devices (MindPet / tactile cushion, control unit and Mindfield Master device) are connected to one another via cable. The control unit additionally requires two batteries or rechargeable batteries, which are included in delivery and can be replaced at any time. On the Mindfield Master devices the front pulse socket is used; within the software you have to activate the vibration feedback.
Which physiological parameters can I link the MindPet / the tactile cushion to?
It is possible to use any parameter from the neurofeedback and biofeedback software. For example, you can let the MindPet vibrate as a reward when the desired mental state is reached in the EEG, such as an increase in attention, or when hand temperature rises. You can also reward calm breathing, good heart rate variability or a relaxed muscle tone in this way with a gentle vibration. The vibration can, however, also be used as negative feedback.

We offer a wide selection of variants, which we receive at random from the manufacturer Ty Inc. It is best to order a MindPet by phone, so we can tell you straight away whether the desired model is still in stock. If you do not specify a variant, we will choose one at random. All accessories, such as batteries or rechargeable batteries for the control unit and for the vibration cushion, are included in delivery.
