Kubios HRV Scientific (Previous Premium)
Kubios HRV Scientific (Previous Premium)
ubios HRV Scientific (the next generation of Kubios HRV Premium) is a widely used software for heart rate variability (HRV) analysis software for scientific research and professional use. It provides detailed HRV analysis with over 40 analysis parameters. For example, it includes an accurate QRS detector and an automatic correction algorithm to guarantee high quality HRV data in all conditions.
NEW: The software supports measurements with the Kubios HRV Mobile App and even more different third-party HR monitors, ECG and PPG devices.
Mindfield is the official German distribution partner for the HRV Scientific Software. We offer the software for the same price as Kubios but on top of that we offer the support in German language.
New in the Scientific Version: (not available in Kubios HRV Premium)
- Supports measurements with the Kubios HRV Mobile App. Use the custom measurement mode of the Kubios HRV Mobile App and synchronize your recordings with your PC via the Kubios Cloud
- Support for additional data channels (display of additional channels on data axes)
- ECG waveform analysis (QRS duration, QT and QTc times, and P, Q, R, S, and T amplitudes).
- Trainingsdatenanalyse mit detaillierten Leistungsmetriken (HR, RESP, TRIMP, ventilatorische Schwellenwerte und VO2) und Herzfrequenzerholung
- Selection of animal species (rat, mouse and pig) for preclinical researchers.
Also new: academic and commercial license
The Kubios HRV Scientific software is available in 2 different versions: Once an academic license which may not be used for commercial purposes and therefore has a lower price. For commercial purposes there is the regular commercial license.
Compatible with all Mindfield MindMaster devices
The Kubios HRV Premium software is with all our Mindfield MindMaster devices compatible.. You can analyze and evaluate all ECG and pulse data from the MindMaster with Kubios.
Compatible with the eSense Pulse
Especially interesting is the combination of the Kubios software with the eSense Pulse, our HRV biofeedback device. Thanks to over 40 analysis parameters, HRV data measured with the eSense Pulse can be evaluated particularly well. This makes Kubios interesting for professional biofeedback trainers. Furthermore, Kubios HRV Scientific software can even be used for scientific research.
For scientific research
Kubios HRV is a scientifically validated software and is being widely used in both clinical and pre-clinical research. The software has been developed during the past 15 years by experienced medical physicists. The software was originally published in 2004 and underwent a significant update in 2014. These two publications have attracted many citations (https://scholar.google.de/scholar?oi=bibs&hl=de&cites=5701425467957781058&as_sdt=5).
Stress and recovery monitoring
Kubios HRV Premium provides detailed and illustrative monitoring of changes occurring in the activity of the autonomic nervous system. With its powerful time varying analytical protocols, you can easily monitor your daily stress levels or evaluate how exercise and training affects your health

Available in the Mindfield Shop
You can purchase the Kubios HRV Scientific software from our online shop for the same price as Kubios, but we also offeradditional and exclusive support in German. With us you can choose both the academic license as well as the commercial license.
Kubios writes about the license:
Kubios HRV Scientific (ver. 4.0) for Windows (Win 10 or 11, 64-bit) and macOS (Catalina, Big Sur or Montrey).
A single user subscription license (1-year subscription) including access to Kubios HRV mobile app data, software updates, and technical support. One license allows you to use Kubios HRV Scientific on one computer at a time. “Academic License” shall mean a license, which has been purchased at a price (“Academic Price”) offered only to academic organizations and other not-for-profit organizations as well as to individuals for the purpose of using the Software only for Academic Use and/or Personal Use.
With the release of Kubios HRV Scientific, updates for Kubios HRV Premium have been discontinued and license renewals can no longer be purchased for existing Kubios HRV Premium licenses.
Supports your measurement device
Kubios HRV Scientific is compatible with several commonly used electrocardiogram (ECG) devices and with most of the HR monitors on the market.
The only requirement for the HR monitor is that it can record inter-beat interval (IBI) data.
Operating system
- Kubios HRV Scientifc is available for 64-bit operating systems: Windows 10 & 11, MacOS (Catalina, Big Sur or Montrey).
- Minimum system requirements: 4 GB RAM, 3-5 GB hard disk space and screen resolution 1024 x 768 or higher
Usability
- Easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI)
- Adaptable to user needs due to adjustable analysis settings through software preferences
Supported data formats and devices
- Inter-beat-interval (IBI) or RR interval files: Garmin and Suunto FIT files; Polar TXT files; custom text and CSV files.
- ECG/PPG files: European Data Format (EDF/EDF+); Cardiology XML; ISHNE Holter ECG Data Format; Biopac ACQ3; General Data Format (GDF); and custom text and CSV files.
- Supported ECG/PPG devices: Actiwave Cardio, AliveCor Kardia, Biopac, Bittium Faros, Empatica E4, Mindfield MindMaster, Shimmer and various clinical Holter and ECG monitors.
- Supported HR monitors: ActiHeart, emWave, Firstbeat Bodyguard, Garmin (Forerunner and Fenix series), Polar (V800), Suunto (Ambit and Spartan series), Zephyr BioHarness
Preprocessing functions
- Built-in QRS detector for accurate ECG R-wave acquisition and pulse wave detector for PPG data
- Automatic correction algorithm to correct missed, extra and misaligned beats from RR interval time series. The algorithm was validated using the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database, which shows 97.0% accuracy in detecting ectopic beats and 99.9% accuracy in identifying normal beats
- Smoothness prior method for removing very low frequency trend components when performing short term HRV analyses.
Features of HRV analysis
- Stress level and indices of parasympathetic (PNS) and sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activities.
